Well, how long will this last? I'm back from my extended trip to Italy, full of the many adventures we had. Now, how long will this full tank of adventure last? There's no telling, but know me, it won't last long!
Heaven and I had a great time. It was exciting, exhausting, fun, frantic, new, and familiar all at the same time. Let me share a few of the adventures with you.
Our plan was to use the train system to travel from place to place. This was a good idea; I still believe this. However, I'm not sure Heaven was completely convinced of this truth when we got off at the wrong Siena station and found ourselves in a very sleepy suburb of the city instead of the center, which was 20 miles away. Well, what do you do then? You explore. You wander. You wait. We were pretty good at the first two and thank goodness we both brought electronic books, the third was survived. We did find this little "snack bar." That's what they call a deli, sandwich shop, quick food place - a snack bar. There, we shared what agreeably was the very best sandwich we had on the trip. If we hadn't gotten off at the wrong stop, we would have missed that sandwich. Now, I know the trip would have gone on, but that's one of the very best parts of travel. All the unexpected and wonderful moments that no one can plan to be that great.
We did make it into Siena and a lovely little boutique hotel in the heart of the historic city center. Relaxing on the terrace, as the sun sank over the western side of the city, we did not dwell on the mistaken train maneuver (thank goodness Heaven is a perfect travel buddy). Instead, we talked about the beautiful color of the the surrounding buildings. You should ask to see that picture sometime.
